Gauhati University PG Entrance Exam 2026: Overview

Gauhati university will conduct the entrance exam for admission into various post graduate programmes under gauhati university on – 2026. The online registration process for GUPGET 2026 will start from – June and continued till -July 2026 at the official website of Gauhati University.

The GU PG entrance examination will be held in 20 exam centres across the state of Assam and the northeastern states for convenience of the applicants who are willing to take admission in various Post Graduate Programmes at Gauhati University and its affiliated colleges.

GUPGET 2025 Registration

The registration link for GUPGET 2026 will be available at the website https://admissions.gauhati.ac.in/. Interested candidates can submit their application form till -July. Gauhati university will conduct the PG entrance test from – July 2026 in offline mode.

GUPGET 2026Selection Process

• GU PGET-2026 mandatory for all candidates to get admitted in any postgraduate programmes at Gauhati University and its affiliated colleges.
• The selection of eligible candidates for PG admission will be solely based on GUPGET 2026 scores.
• Candidates will have to produce all the relevant documents/certificates (in their original form) before the respective department where admission is being sought at the time of admission.
• The Preference for admission to the relevant programme will be given to candidates who obtain higher rank in the PGET 2026.
• The reservations will be made following the guidelines established by the Government of Assam
• and Gauhati University.

Application Fee

• GUPGET Application fee for one PG programme is Rs. 800/–
• For two programmes, the entrance examination fee Rs. 1600/-; and
• For three PG programmes, the entrance examination fee will be Rs. 2400/-.

GU PG Entrance 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility criterion for PG Courses admission under Gauhati University is that applicants should have completed graduation degree from a recognized university or college. The eligibility criteria for M.A/ M.sc/ M.com are discussing below.

M.A. & M.Sc Courses:-

• The candidates should have passed BA/B.Sc as 10+2+3 pattern with honors in the concerned subjects.
• Candidates having B.Com with at least 40% marks (or its equivalent CGPA) in aggregate in the General Course in the pattern of 10+2+3 are eligible for pg admission.
• 45% marks will be determine in the way that marks obtained in Part 1 & 2 for courses in 2+1 pattern and on the basis of marks obtained in Part 1,2,3, if contains 1+1+1 pattern.

M.Com Course:-

• The students should have done B.Com degree in 10+2+3 pattern with Major subject.
• And B.Sc or BA in (10+2+3) pattern with General/Pass Course subjects with at least 45% marks (or its equivalent CGPA) in the concerned subject.
