India Post Department releases notification inviting applications from eligible candidates to fill up the vacant positions of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) 2025. The GDS vacancies include the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevaks in different offices of the Department of Posts. Class 10th pass candidates will be eligible to apply for these vacancies, for which the merit list will be prepared and published on the basis of class 10th Marks without written examination. India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 Overview

India Post GDS Salary structure 

The salary of the selected candidates will be in the form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) which has a 3% annual increment and other allowance. The initial salary of GDS employees is as in the following table.

• Branch Post Master (BPM)- Rs.12,000/- Rs. 29,380/-
• ABPM/Dak Sevak – Rs. 10,000/- Rs. 24,470/-

Post official GDS Eligibility criteria 2026

1. Age limit: 18 to 40 years
2. Relaxation: ST/SC- 5 YEARS
3. OBC-  3 years
4. PWD- 10 YEARS
5. PwD + obc- 13 years
6. PwD + ST/ST- 15 years

Education Qualification

• The Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English conducted by any recognized Board of School Education.
• The candidate must have studied the local language at least up to 10th Standard from a recognized board. The detail of post-wise local language prescribed by the Department will be announced along with official notification.
• Special provision for the engagement of GDS is Arunachal Pradesh, read the official notification for more details.

Other qualification

• Knowledge of computer
• Knowledge of cycling
• Adequate means of livelihood.
